On August 29, 2026, the skilled worker fair took place again at Görlitz City Hall as part of the Görlitz Old Town Festival. The Welcome Center of the Görlitz district was also present and took the opportunity to talk to skilled workers, returning residents, and other interested parties.
From 12 pm to 4 pm, we had numerous interesting conversations. Some visitors came from as far away as Düsseldorf or even England and inquired about professional and personal opportunities in the Görlitz district. We were particularly pleased to hear from people returning to the area who want to live closer to their families, as well as from those who already know the region from holidays and can imagine making it their new home.
The time between consultations was also well used: for exchanging ideas with other companies and institutions, maintaining existing contacts, and forging new networks. Since many familiar faces return every year, the job fair now feels almost like a small "class reunion"—complete with familiar encounters.
For us as the Welcome Center, the skilled worker exchange is therefore a great opportunity to inspire people to live and work in the Görlitz district and at the same time strengthen the exchange with regional partners.
